Cherry Apple Bread Pudding
Bring any evening to a sweet ending with this special cherry apple bread pudding. The sweet apples and tart cherries complement each other deliciously.

MAKES: 8 to 10 servings
INGREDIENTS
9 slices firm-textured white bread
3 tablespoons butter, softened
3 medium Golden Delicious apples, peeled and very thinly sliced
2 tablespoons lemon juice
½ cup dried tart red cherries
3 cups milk
6 eggs
½ cup sugar
PREPARATION
1. Lightly butter 1 side of the bread slices; cut bread into quarters. Arrange half of the bread pieces, buttered sides down, in an ungreased 3-quart rectangular baking dish.
2. Toss together apples and lemon juice. Sprinkle apple-lemon juice mixture and cherries over bread in baking dish. Top with remaining bread pieces, buttered sides up. Whisk together milk, eggs, and sugar. Pour egg mixture over bread in dish, pressing lightly to thoroughly moisten the bread.
3. Bake, uncovered, in a 350°F oven for 45 to 50 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 30 minutes on a wire rack. Serve warm.
